1.
True love, coming from the skies above Is a feeling best kept close to heart Once opened, gates let flood waters inundate When they’re gone, what can be done to go on? “Someone always pays” Shooting stars are but collisions from afar For all their beauty, they’re meaningless You’re in my constellation for all time But am past you, across the universe “Someone always pays No one ever stays”
2.
Close to a thrill as I can get Putting in my pocket something I’ve not paid for yet Been hanging on to things ain’t plainly true Made a fool of myself, as only a man can do “And I love no one” Reaching out ain’t hard But finding someone ain’t so easy Wearing that placard Saying ‘Kick me, I’m needy’ Twisted tales of who has done me wrong Inspire no help from what’s dusted, done and gone
3.
It’s so tempting to stay at home When I don’t want to see no one I got all I need but you Hit the button and I touch the world From the comfort of my easy chair I got all I need but you “Here comes the night again” Got your picture to save my screen Got your speed dial upon my phone
4.
Brushed up, cologned, teeth and eyes are shone Got to be my best Sun shady bough, Take a nip for the stalwart gentleman’s test “I can’t bleed everyday for you Am just going through some changes with you” When someone saves your life does it mean they’s owning it? Love comes asunder, and I wonder – do I got to hand it in? “I can’t bleed everyday for you Am just passing through some changes for you”
5.
In the morning will you rise, will you wake up? In the evening have you my desire, shall we make love? “So wired, so tired, so fired by you” You’ve been good to me and so let’s be nice, not mistake up I been good to you I know that we when we break up Love is little things, like plucking these six strings Desires that would take wing can sting
6.
A picture, that’s all, a curious call Silly of me to want to get to know you more Fires inspiration, cause and foundation What’s possible, what is not – confused for a spell “What’s was what what was what’s washed far away Words weave and waspish draw attention my way Hope is tall grasses that grow fast and sway Under influences” Am driven to dreams, I fly territories Scenarios as these put me at risk yet again
7.
Placeholder 02:23
Since you set me free, I had no one to take home with me I been waiting Since you broke my smile, I been lonely as an only child I been wailing “But my river ain’t running dry” Autumn comes around, hopes to reconcile have gone to ground I been failing
8.
t happened again yesterday Just when I though that I got away from the though police Sliding off my tongue, a casual statement is flung See its reception – what have I done with my glossary? “I said something without meaning now I know I was wrong If I was unkind, can I rewind where that come from? If I say it without meaning can I change my mind?” For instance, when I’ve had a drink I wager my wages I’ll say something that’s going to come out strong ‘Cos those are the ways, chucking in my chip shop days Brought up by handstand then led astray by a wicked plan
9.
Enchante! 02:57
From her manifold arms, you push the quiet alarms You put away all the thoughts reminding you you’re here Just in case someone arrives, spoils a long-awaited surprise There’s a lock upon the door turned twice “Girls you’ve seen before Those that you adore Enchante!” A summer sunlight dress that skirts behind the blinds Sensitive skins run the best in tenderness Snowflakes on the tongue of kisses hard-won Embraces low-slung mid-afternoon
10.
Well I don’t feel much like saying, “Dobry den” today I chased some skirt, ore my shirt trying to drink these blues away Wherever else am going, am sure to be the last to knowing People tell me that it’s showing, that’s what they say See, I don’t quite know what part am meant to play Seems I let ambition go astray Regardless of my wishing, am never nearer my life’s mission Got to galvanise my vision or lose my way If living by my passion’s means there’s going to be a hell to pay For the things I hold in high regard And the ways that am trying hard Am giving the whole nine yards Whatever gives life meaning – I’ll never stop believing So I step up the plate to make my play Swinging out for the stands come Saturday If am to I’ll something that wasn’t here yesterday Am going to bust out playing my own tunes, come what may No more will I dither Am going to bust those blues baby loose and make some hay Be a clutch hitter Am going to live my life, let my own lights lead the way
11.
Why Oh Why 02:34
You tell me, you sell me out on a promise for a handful of beans All I done is keep my mouth shut ‘cos am not a man of means You say you got position, I got to genuflect to you You won’t ge t no submission, though I give respect where it’s due “Why oh why do I oh do I Feed the hand that bites me?” You smell me, you sniff me out like a beast going through the bush Is it something in your nature that you feel like you feel that you ought to crush? I couldn’t do no better, turned my cheek like a real christian Každý dobrý skutek je po zásluze potrestán
12.
Caught me out, round about midnight Looking bold for someone to hold Where I won’t go “Never needed a woman so bad” I’m the lout, it’s my shout this time Reminding me am not so free Am not just one
13.
I hope the rain don’t come while am wearing my suit I get the silver fox blues, now ain’t that the truth? Those sidelong eyes of women passing by seem to miss me in my scrubs It’s a world of sakes and appearances “Tumbleweed love” You wish you’d hot in your hands a flight for fair lands Blue skies and fresh fruit, a new bathing suit Regards from those guys as you sashay by Is it sand that’s in your eye, to think perhaps those days are drub? Life leaves a pale worn out hue You sit in the dark ‘cos you’re feeling so blue The ink in your arm has lost some of its charm Now it’s not defined as tightly as it was But what is?
14.
All those sleeveless summer days spent in or outside the mall In the garden with the door open All those neon thrilling nights waiting for some chance to come A dance, a song, some electric kiss, fumbling for bliss “No you won’t be coming back this way again The past is such a lonely place to live Got to relight those dreams – the ones your bills put paid to ‘Cos you won’t be coming back” Holding photos in your hands, watching videos of forgotten bands Now you’ve lost all affections Walk along the beach till sunrise ‘cos you got no home Dramatise and drink to first times Now you’re giving it some

about

This is my first album I did soup-to-nuts. It took two years of wandering the labyrinth (“Does this sound good?”) and study, with plenty of cockups along the way. I tracked and mixed everything, and did the cover art too. Mastering was by Mike White, a very professional, helpful guy.

The album is literally an 'album' – every song a different genre, like old photos taken with different cameras and printed in different formats. There’s so many flavours here. I call it my ‘Hunk Dory’.

The sleeve is me with my father, and Charles the gorilla. I remember those blue Clarkson’s shoes. That was one of the last times I saw my father until I was an adult. Everything’s subject to change, yeah.
